From Dayton, it's only 4 hours going up 75 to 30 to FT Wayne then north on 69. I will probably go-- but $150.00? Let me check that. NESBA is only $95.00 plus membership (which is $75.00). STT membership is (or was) $25.00 and you get some nifty stickers and a T shirt. NESBA says no entry fee. I have always had to pay $10.00 (or something close) to get into Grattan with STT plus $15.00 to camp overnight. Grattan has decent facilities-- shower and stuff, plus the night sky is a show all by itself.
Wait, June 17th I'm pointing the front wheel towards Maine. Let me re-think this!

Apex to Apex? Never heard of them, can't find them on the web except out west-- mainly at Miller. What do you know about them? Ever do a track day with them??
June 30th STT is doing an LED at Putnam-- $200.00 no membership required. Plus, Mid Ohio is $195.00/day or $150.00 for a twilight (seems a bit much for 4 hours).
June 16th and 17th is Putnam with NESBA at $150.00/day (15% off second day). June 23rd and 24th is your choice: Grattan at $95.00/day or Nelsons at $135.00/day (again, 15% off second day)
Looking through the schedules, looks like the dates are filling fast.
STT is now $35.00 annual membership

You can get to Grattan in 4 hours???? WTF. I just made the trip two weeks ago and even after i made it through Dayton traffic it took 5 hours.

Took around 6 hours with fill ups and 10 minutes extra through Dayton from the Tylersville Exit on 75.

Uhmm, no its not. Twilight endurance is the best price at Mid-ohio:

$ 195 for seven 20min sessions = 2hrs 20 min
$ 150 for four 30min sessions = 2hrs ...so you are paying $45 for the last 20 minutes if you go the whole day.
If you take the actual track time into consideration (never more than 18 min) it looks even worse.
+ I can drive up to mid-ohio in 2 1/2 hrs leaving early afternoon, and be back the same night before midnight. No Hotel or camping fees.

You are right. I just ran into a fellow named Steve while getting some tires mounted at Xtreme Perf. Cycle up here in Dayton. I saw his shredded rear tire and asked if he raced or did track days. The conversation included the Twilight schedule at Mid Ohio. HE TOLD ME that it was essentially open track for 4 hours shutting down for about 5 minutes every hour. At that rate, it's waaaay better than a regular track day. I will be one worn out old dude!
He also told me that if you were an AMA member, you get an extra $25.00 off bringing it down to $125.00. I'm signing up for July 7th. Anyone have any contradictory info on this??

My bad, 4 hours to my nieces. She lives in Lowell which is cool, I can stay with her (and her big fancy home with a pool) but generally I just meet them for dinner at the Grattan Bar and Grill and camp out at Grattan. So, 4 1/2 to almost 5 to actually get to the race track. I run about 75-80 in Ohio then 85 plus in Michigan (cuz you will get flat run over otherwise). 299 miles. I run I 75 to R30 over to FT Wayne then 69 north to Charlotte Mich. Then 50 over to 66 to 96. That's 74mph average and I get 340 miles out of 17 gallons so, I don't stop for gas til I get to the Shell station there in Lowell.

1/2 a day and not crash for 2 weeks to get your full license.

Hey how did your buddy like the tire warmers??

They ran it Clockwise I can gaurantee. The only run it Counter Clockwise for WERA and maybe other races. I loved that place Counter. I just wonder if I will like it as well Clockwise.

Clockwise is a whole lot safer that’s for certain. It's like going to a completely new track. Just be careful on the brakes the first couple of times over the jump.

My best at Grattan was a mid 1:27 I blieve. Top Novice there did some 1:24s but most other novices were in the 25-26 range.

Have to wait till August to see what I can run clockwise.

hello just chimming in here, back in 03 or 02 when i was racing the pro's could do a 1:12 or 1:15 lap there, but and this is a realy big butt, the track surface wasnt crap like now. it was pretty decent no big cracks or holes in the track any where like now. yea most of the amature's were running from 1:20 up to 1:50 something during the race's there was a pretty large gap in speed in that class.
