Is anyone interested in going in on a group buy of 07'Pirelli supercorsa track tires. I have gotten close to a Pirelli track side rep and he said he could really hook us if we buy many sets. I have to know by Aug 1st so I can get the $ and pick up your tires at a track. Its looking like a set of tires will be like $350,but wont know till I get all of us together so get ahold of me!

$350 isn't really that good of a deal as that is what the racer price is for the Michelin PRs, and www.sportbiketrackgear.com has the Powers in a 180 series for $265

If you decide to go that rout make sure you don't get the PR4. It chunks real bad if it's not in the right temperature range (sorry, I can't remember what it is). Try giving Quentin a call at Mize Mobile (410) 227-8473. He sells Bridgestone’s (and Michelin for that matter). He does the bulk purchase thing as well. You can get a set of 002's (race tire, not the Parts Unlimited version) for around 260 a set if you can buy 10 sets or more. I think they are around 305 by themselves. They are great tires and not as finicky as the Michelins.

Yeah My BT002 are wearing great as I can get race weekend Friday practice and a trackday on them before they could be thrown into street duty.
But I guess I don't wear tires out riding like grandma.

Is you girlfriend cool with that?! I guess if it is just for tires and "love" isn't involved it may be alright.

Ok I have a few pics of the tires we speak of. First are the tires I can get the Pirelli.

The Pilot has one day At putnam on it and its gone! The pirelli has 1 day on it and looks new. The Pirelli tire is the new model 07 tire.

everyone who was racing on the pirellis at beaver said that they loved em. regular trackside price was 370 a set though (i think). that michelin you have in the pics is more of a trackday tire than a race tire according to the michelin guy. i think you may be to fast to be using those. try the prc front and a pr3 or pr5 rear. i bet the results will be better.

Tell that to Robert Jensen....
Look, it is all about set-up. That Michelin in the pic vs the Pirelli shows that the set-up wasn't right for the Michelin or, you got faster as the day progressed. I can show you a rear Michelin (Medium Compound, though) that looks WAY better than that. If you are wearing that tire to the point it is in half a day, you are either blazing fast or have the wrong set-up.
If that was at Putnam, I know you weren't faster than Frankenfield and he was on two race weekend old takeoffs doing 14s.
Set-up is key. It takes time.
Michelin is a good RACE tire, but you need to sort shit out. I have taken the time and I am closer to where I feel better than I was before. Now, if you asked me the first weekend out, I'd have a different opinion...

Yeah Brandon your next investment should be to upgrade your suspension if you haven't already. Stock stuff will not allow you setup where you need to be for the track and maximize the tires. As right now you may be running the times but you will continue to destroy tires.

i tried the pirellis at nelson on Sunday this wekend and they were wayyyyy better than the michelin pr1/pr4 combo that i was running Saturday. The michelin rep on hand there confirmed that the pr1 is really just a trackday tire and the pr4 has been discontinued cause it sucks.

So If i can get a deal on these tires does any one want some? The 180 size is $30 less. Let me know.

IF they are the brand new race tires Pirelli has out, it isn't that good of a deal. Any racer can go right up to Moose at the track and not pay but a hair more a set and only have to buy singles.
Good deal if you work at a dealership - not a great deal if you are a racer....
