This is a Corvette ZR1 video (http://www.corvetteconti.com/blog/?p=3805nti.com/blog/?p=3805), but it would be a great track for bikes, too.

WOW, that guy can drive!!!
I am exhausted from leaning left and right in my chair!
Yes, great track except for those killer guard rails.

The track is Nurenburg in Germany, I believe.

No, not quite. Its the Nuerburg Ring "Nordschleife", and has nothing to do with Nuernberg. Its a world famous track, they ran F1 on it up to the 1970s when Nikki Lauda had his fiery crash. Today you can run-what-you-brung on the the "ring" for a small fee - it works like a toll road - pull up to the gate, pay the automat, go ballistic for one lap, pull up to the gate, repeat.

Its on my to-do-list.

It would be an absolute TERRIBLE track for bikes to run on...I'll qualify my original statement and make it more precise.

"I'd like to take one of my bikes for a ride on it, at less than racing or dangerous speeds. It would be fun for ME under those conditions." I might be fun for others as well, but that is for them to personally decide.

Sorry for the original generic statement; it is open to personal interpretation. I understand your position (from a racing/track-day perspective), and it is perfectly correct/fine.

"I'd like to take one of my bikes for a ride on it, at less than racing or dangerous speeds. It would be fun for ME under those conditions." I might be fun for others as well, but that is for them to personally decide. It's actually quite popular with lots of motorcyclists and you do occasionally see a crash on it due to riders pushing beyonds the limits of the bike and/or themselves. There is one famous decreasing radius that seems to catch a few more than others.

Its on my to-do-list.It's on a lot of to-do-lists. ;)

On a performance level similar to what the Corvette was doing, a motorcycle at a spirited pace around there crashing would be most likely fatal. One, guardrails right up against the track is preferred for cars, but bikes? Not a good idea. Hitting a guardrail at say, 100 mph going in isn't likely to be a good result for a motorcyclist. Also, cars when they spin out, tend to go to the inside of turns. Bikes? They go outside. Where the guardrails are...

Even though it is a choice for the casual street guy, remember, TT racing in Europe and abroad is very popular and something like this track wouldn't phase some. Trajectory-wise, it would not be suited for bikes.

Think Watkins Glenn...

pretty good video of a bike doing the ring.

http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=5141936351495893285

those guys with the vette kind of cheated the lap time a bit

they started it long before the spot they stopped it.
