It was made known on Sunday that there was some BIG news about Daytona to be announced on Wednesday. No further details were could be given.

Well I don't know if this is Pete's big news, and I can't figure out the secrecy, because it's been news for a couple weeks now. This will affect anyone racing FASTTRAX in hopes of scoring CCS points.

Daytona Int'l Speedway will close after the July Neckcar race. The track is going to install new tunnels under the banking, in order to allow semi-truck access. They will also repave the track, so at least the spring race will be exciting.

What does that mean to us?? Well, for starters, you won't ride the ROC at Daytona this year. From what I understand, it will happen at Homestead, instead. :D

Please somebody find evidence to refute this. I feel, however, that the track will greatly benefit from this. We can race there next year.

Homestead is such a small track , Attendanse won't be as good , such a long drive to get there . Atleast 7hrs from Daytona south.

Hey, I wasnt the originator of the news, I was just giving a heads-up that there was SOMETHING happening with Daytona. I think sbracer had the most details. I'm still on the road and havent had time to check the news.

Again, the news (http://venus.13x.com/roadracingworld/scripts/NewsInsert.asp?insert=8769) about Daytona, which confirms its closing until at least December.
