I went last year when it was in Knoxville. Its cool place if you are into looking at Goldwings or looking for Goldwing accessories mostly. That is what they cater most but there are some good deals to be found on gear adn etc.. But they do have some demo rides from almost all the major manufacturers. I heard the demo rides stunk compared to when the Hoot was in Ashville NC. Roads were boring, no slingshotting, and slow pace compared to 2-3 years ago when it was in Ashville.

I heard from many people who visited the Hoot in Ashville that it was much better there and a few said they wouldn't return unless it went back to Asheville.

Depends on what you are looking to do down there I guess. If you are a Winger and want to see what's new for your bike... then its heaven. Other than that... there's the street parties and demo rides. :what:

My friend Neal Oury has a cabin rented for 4 riders at Norris Lake. I had to cancel ( I'm helping my Son move ) , and our other friend also had to cancel. As of today, Neal had not cancelled the reservation. He lives in Loveland and his phone number is 677-1745. Neal rode down last year. You guys may want to talk. ( I'm Jim McGonegle).

I went last year... the Hoot was cool and there was a lot to see, but it was the rides through the dragon and blue ridge parkway that made the trip. I was hoping to go this year but that week isn't any good for me. I hope to get down sometime this summer.

I went the first year it was in Knoxville. 2001 I think. I had a good time, but that was the first Rally type event that I have attended. I wish I knew from the beginning that you needed to get in line really early in the morning to sign up for the demo rides. I only did some demo rides on Saturday, the last day of the event. Got a good idea of which bike was going to be my next bike, and I was totally disappointed in another bike that I thought I would like. Demo rides are worth the bike's weight in gold.

I did a few of the "organized" rides, the one to Oak Ridge & the one to Deal's Gap/the Dragon, though everyone could do them at their own pace, not having to leave at a specific time & not having to ride in a big group. The directions for the mini poker run at Oak Ridge sucked & we missed that completely, once we got into Oak Ridge. We did one of the riverboat breakfasts one morning. We did the visit/dinner at the Appalachian Museum grounds, although it rained that evening. We also rode out to Gatlinburg one evening.

The event was well-received in the city. There were police officers in may places to direct traffic to help out the mc crowd. I hope there have been no trouble/problems in the following years.

If I ever get a chance to go back, I would go again, but mostly for the demo rides.

Me and kyemt100a mostly go because it's a GREAT excuse to get down there and ride the Cherahala Skyway, Blue Ridge Parkway and of course, everyone's favorite, the Dragon's Tail!!!! That's MY main reason for going........:D

We've a couple guys headed to the Hoot on Wednesday the 23 from Dayton. Staying thru Sunday. I've been there a couple times now and it's a pretty good rally. I have also gone down for the demo rides sence they don't have them at Vintage Days anymore, know this there won't be many companies there for demo's this year. Yamaha, Kaw have both backed out and not sure if Zuki will be there either. And as someone said earlier if you want a ride plan on being at the park BY 6:00 am! and standing in line 'til 8 then RUNNING to the company you want to ride with. Last year I did just this and rode the FJR,V-Strom,CapoNord, Mean Streak and a Firebolt. Don't recall who all are going to be there for Demos(besides Honda).BUT the saving grace is the Dragon, Cherahola and other great roads down there ...just be aware with a major rally there, there will also be plenty of POLICE watchin' the Dragon in Tenn. & N.C. Ride safe and have fun...I will!!

When I was at the Hoot, all 4 Japanese manufacturers were there, as well as Ducati, Aprilia, Triumph, BMW, Buell, and one or 2 others. I was disappointed in Honda that year because they only had the big VTX & Goldwing in the demo fleet that they brought that year. I think BMW was the most popular.
I saw a Guzzi demo fleet trailer on a TV show recently. I wonder if they will be at the Hoot this year.
