Has anyone done a NESBA track day? As far as I can tell from their website they seem professional. Their track days, especially at Barber, are very affordable. I was thinking of signing up for the Putnam track day on June 24 with them.

Dean and I did a track day at VIR back in '04 w/Nesba. It was very well run, and you're able to get a lot of track time.

I have done track days with them in 2001 and 2002 at Putnam & Blackhawk. They were well-run back then & I think the control riders did a good job. I can only speak for the Beginner group though.
I head sometimes about many "issues" with the intermediate group, such as the group is too large, people don't get enough "clean track" & intermediate riders are a bit limited to where they are not allowed to pass on the track, but not as strick as the beginner group. There are probably as many wrecks or run-offs in the intermediate group as any other track day, but I have heard of less multiple-bike incidents in the past. I don't read their forum anymore, so I don't know what the typical track-day occurances have been in the last few years.
They have a "history" of not letting bikes smaller than an inline 600 into the Advanced group, even if the rider has a race license. They are too afraid of the difference in closing speeds at the end of a straightaway between something like a SV650 (or smaller bike) and a liter bike.
I think their track day pricing will be more expensive than other org's unless you purchase their membership, if you plan to do more than one track day a year with them.

Similar format as STT. I've run with them at Barber before but I normally run with them at Putnam. They do a great job.
NESBA has control riders in the Intermediate and Beginner groups and you can't pass control riders without them first signaling to do so. No passing in corners in either group. The Advanced group allows "safe" passing anywhere on the track and is not controlled by control riders...similar to race practice. I personally like NESBA's attempts to control the bikes allowed in the Advanced group and feel they do a good job here. I've attended some track days having bikes out in the advanced group running at least 20 seconds/lap slower while staying on the racing line. One incident I can clearly recall was at Putnam last year on the entrance to turn 5. A guy in the advance group, machine limited and clearly off the pace, came completely across the track to grab the apex of turn 5... I anticipated this move and begun breaking way early for 5 and avoided him but had this caught you off-guard, a collision of 30-40MPH could have easily resulted. I just so happen to have that captured by on-board video! Everyone that sees it asks..."why is that guy out on the track with you guys?" I'm sure the rider was capable of running faster times but was machine limited...small-bore +25 year old tech. It does beg the question however, is this guy safer in the advanced group (potentially more experienced riders) or Intermediate group (closer lap time #'s) in this case? :what:
