Re: Who are you? Introduce yourselves here :)

I had forgotten about LocalRiders completely. Checked it out again recently after about 10 years and was impressed with the quality of prose and diversity of equipment and opinions. My name is Pat. I like to ride. See you out on the road.

Hi, my name is Michael. I love all kinds of motorcycles, all kinds of riding. I used to live in Cincinnati, now I live in Miamisburg. I wonder how many riders are in this area? I look forward to seeing you out there.

Re: Who are you? Introduce yourselves here :)

Hi all,

I'm a new member of the group I've been riding for five years, started with a Royal Enfield 500 back home in India (still have it! My sister rides it now ). My riding was changed for the better two years ago when I tool up the BRC and then later the ARC riding courses. Top quality classes! Wish I had them back in India growing up - I learned to ride just like riding a bicycle - trial and error.

I'm now firmly in the ATGATT camp. I've had a crash which I survived un scarred thanks to my gear. I write about motorcycle related stuff on my blog (www.Paleogyan.com)

I've also had the Yamaha V Star 650 (way too small for me) and then the Honda ST1100 Silver 1991 which I sold a month ago to Bill.

I currently ride a 2007 v strom 650. I'm new to chain management and am trying to find any local rider/expert who could guide and help me change the chain/sprockets in return for my humble offerings of a grand lunch + your fav 6 pack craft beer . I've the chain, sprockets on hand but...I don't want to risk aligning it incorrect both the v star and the ST1100 were shaft drives.

I've done 18,000 miles on the ST in two years, am a big fan of long distance touring. I'm in the process of farkling the wee strom for distance touring!

I look forward to meeting with, and riding with the local group more.

I'm on advrider, stromtrooper, vsri/vsari & ST owners under the handle "thepaleobiker"

Recent mods on the wee strom :-

LED headlights update
LED aux lights
Stebel horn
LED turn signals
Givi D260ST Tall windshield
Fork brace
Mirror extenders
Peg lowering kit
MadStad brackets
Blue seas Fuse box
Suzuki OEM Gel seat DL1000

Regards,
Vishnu

Re: Who are you? Introduce yourselves here :)

Welcome....what part of town are you in? Changing sprockets and a chain are not hard and I'm sure someone will step up and help you out. Your bike having a center stand will help make it easier to remove the rear wheel.

@kyrez @Hyflyer thank you! I live in the Clifton area, on Ludlow ave. Close to the UC campus.

Steiny responded to my query about sprocket/chain change on my introduction thread really grateful.

I'm looking to change the fork spring, gosh the stock springs are not setup for a 205 LB Asian Indian guy!

I've already ordered some racetech 0.95 springs and I look forward to trying the swap sometime later this month. But the chain is more...urgent, to put it correctly.

Thank you all, I've posted many threads on stromtrooper under lighting I've changed all bulbs headlights to LED on my wee strom

Not sure if this forum has threads about specific motorcycle mods? I'll have to check it out. I can help anyone with electrical connections and wiring !

Cheers!

Regards,
Vishnu
