I am swapping out stock turn signals with aftermarket LED replacements. I knew before I started this little project, that the LEDs would cause a fast-flash due to the lack of amp draw. I can live with that if I must, but if there is an easy fix, I suppose I should explore that possibility before buttoning everything up.

Can I use a resistor? If so, what size? Where do I place the resistor? In line with positive, or the ground, or does it matter?

I have resistors laying around. I don't have an electronic flasher laying around.

I've bought LED's from this place multiple times. I seem to remember seeing a write up about how to add resistance somewhere on the site..

When I changed to LED's I ended up using a flasher relay instead of resistors. Pull old one out, plug in new relay, done deal. Although there is no harm in just leaving the signals at the higher flash rate, you may even get noticed more.

I've done a little research this morning. I didn't dig too deep, but all the electronic flasher relays seemed to be pretty expensive, and my existing relay is kind of a PITA to get to. I need to get it back together over the next few days (preferably today or tomorrow). Looking around at what I have to work with within reach, it would appear that I need larger resistors than what I have laying around, so I'm just gonna slap it back together as it is. The fast flash is a little annoying, but I can live with it. I don't care how pretty it is, I just want it to work.

I have some LED's that I want to swap out in the dash, but don't want to tear into it right now.

I did that years ago on the DR350SE. I had leds on the back and bulbs in the front. I pulled out there fancy flasher and got a $4.95 good old fashion flasher from auto zone and it worked great.
I was going to call you to talk about old bikes but thought it would better to reply or send an e-mail.

If you are really having a hard time with this I'll fire up the netbook and look for a picture of the flasher I used. I'm sure I have it as I did a write up for the DR forum.

You could also connect the resistors you have in series, effectively adding up their resistance... would save you a trip to the store.

I believe the resistors I have are too small, meaning they will likely melt with the amps passing through them. I'm not going to the store. I've already buttoned up the left side. I'm just slapping it all back together as it is, live with the fast flash for now, and come back and do it right later [maybe]. I'm not 100% confident in how long the LED signals will last anyway. They were some cheapies that I've had laying around. I'm just tired of replacing the duct tape holding the stock signal on and I don't want it falling off on my travels over the next couple weeks.

Thom, I have some that came with my led brake light/turn signal combo. They say 20w5jr on them not sure what that means if anything. FYI I don't use the turn signal function, nor do I use the resistors u are welcome to them, although other then thru mail I'm not sure how I would get them to you.

On a side note the electric flasher is only 9.99 at autozone

hello man I know thread is pretty old but which lights have you got? I am searching for replacement bulbs so which option will you recommend? Looking forward for quick reply... Thanks
