15th Annual 2015 BRP Trip after Labor Day

Last year thread
http://www.localriders.com/forums/sh...&highlight=BRP

A couple other epic years below
And the list of riders for the 2003 was quite impressive
http://www.localriders.com/forums/sh...&highlight=brp

Fast forward to ten years later 2013 trip
http://www.localriders.com/forums/sh...&highlight=brp

Well I believe the plan is same as the past... Leave with a group or come whenever is works best for you but in the end just get there!

A few of us will leave Monday/Tuesday bright and early and make a 2 day run across OH, WV, VA and stay in Roanoke or wherever the route takes us the 1st night, then Head down BLUE RIDGE PARKWAY to the BRP Motorcycle Only Camp.. The have cabins its been about $45 a night for 2 beds so we encourage you to call ahead and reserve can't beat those prices when you split a cabin! Tent camping is available and does cost less than splitting a cabin but not much!

Some may Like more amenities and Maggie Valley or other towns near Waynesville might fill your cup of tea so plan accordingly.

So all you have to do is decide how many days you are free from the daily grind and figure it out from there.

We do have a 1 day back roads route down from Cincinnati as well if we need to dodge some weather Instead of the 2 day route.

I'm planning to leave Monday/Tuesday Sept 7th-8th(Labor day or day after), who else will be joining me? and who cant leave then and will head for the BRP campground after that??

It's a great time, with great roads to ride and you will be tired every night from riding and sleep good trust me

Only way I'll miss it is if I'm handcuffed to the bed of some sex crazed woman carrying a dog eared copy of 50 Shades.
or-- if I'm dead -- but even then, I might show up if someones's willing to duct tape me to the back of their bike. All I ask is keep me away from that
necrophiliac with an anal fixation (you know who I mean).

Re: 15th Annual 2015 BRP Trip after Labor Day

I'll be down there labor day weekend on a car trip but if the weather looks like it will be good, I'm bringing the bike too. Too early to tell if I can stay longer. I have a project at work that's kicking my ass and it runs through to next year. I'm hoping things get better so I can take time off without having to check in daily.

Re: 15th Annual 2015 BRP Trip after Labor Day

What memories that ride brings. Such good times and other trying times when I had to grab an new tire along the way. And much much more. trying times. That I and others have had.

I don't know if I'll have my truck and trailor refined by then but my XR650 is not ment to ride down there and all the way back.

Which annual ride was it that I was with you Dave that Jahorn smashed up his BMW on the last run of the Dragon?

Wasn't the run home when the Kawasaki of whats his name was showing steel cables on the center of his rear wheel? It was so hot that cagers were handing us water in the traffic jam?

That was a really good time. It was the best ride of my life, no kidding.

Re: 15th Annual 2015 BRP Trip after Labor Day

Weather I'm there or not I feel obligated to tell anyone that signs up for this ride, this road will eat your tires. It is a great ride through great road and you will have tremendous grip on the BRP. Much of the BRP is in high elevation so it does get cold and your carbureted bike will lose power.

Camping is good and as always anyone around Banister is reliable so far.

I hope I can make it. But at this point I will trailer to Roanoake and ride from there.

Maybe Us trailor folk can team up. I still haven't bought a trailor but I have a f250 turbo diesel ford truck that can haul plenty of bikes but only a single cab

I know that IF I go I will be trailoring down at this point. No reason to trailor only one bike in my mind. I could haul several bikes and caravan down there. (and back).

If that is the case I will need to know so I can buy a decent sized trailer. I've pulled them before but I just need to know if I need to get a tailor bigger for just my needs or a longer one for friends.

I'm in! Last year was fun :-) Might be taking the entire month of September off and riding around the east coast visiting friends, so this will be the perfect start to my adventure!

Re: 15th Annual 2015 BRP Trip after Labor Day

Well, just called Andy at The vlley INN.
He has 4 double rooms left as of today Monday, 7PM 06/30/15
Last year-- it was $63.00 (tax and all)
This year about $84.00 because of the Thunder in the Mountains or valley or out house-- whatever!
Little rich for my old broke azz blood!
Gotta admit, it is covered porches, rushing stream out back, with bonfire and lounge chairs
nice-- nice beds, clean, your own bathroom, mini fridge, AC, coffee pot in room with free coffee,
But-- let me know!
