Re: Colorado

I rode CO92 back in April this year on the way back from Pasadena to Cincinnati. I enjoyed it as you did. Picked it up off of US50 and went north to Hotchkiss turned around and went back to 50 to head east. US50 had many great stretches in Colorado as well.

Re: Colorado

More good pics, Florence is quiet... The former capitol of Colorado is just south of there. It is all scrub brush and sage now...

I have heard that 92 is a great road.

Our friend Russ told us you can see the trout in the pools from the top of the canyon...

For some reason Russ and his Navy buddies insisted on walking to the bottom of said canyon to camp and fish. That little excursion is off our bucket list. Unless they install a powered chair on the trail...

Re: Colorado

Come to think of it....isn't Florence the location of the Fed,Max security prison ?

Be sure to lock the motel room door

Re: Colorado

I believe there was one prison in that area when I was working on a water plant east of Florence. I think that was in Canon City... Looking at Goggle Earth it seems to be the local business model...

I always wanted to make that run up the canyon, never got around to it. Just not the same in a Ford F150...

I did make the run through Poncha Springs a lot... There is a flume built into the Arkansas River at Salida by the Corps of Engineers or some gov't agency to do research...

I miss Colorado...

Re: Colorado

My LT and I are discussing how long it's going to be here...

I love the bike, had to install a BMW low seat and the lower foot pegs to make it fit me... Hip is doing better this year. Absolutely love the bike - after the first 10 feet and before the last 10 feet...

I would ride the thing to Colorado in a heart beat...

I will check with the local BMW guy to see if any one is looking.

Have you tried offering it on this site?

Re: Colorado

LOL! {My hip} is one of the reasons I lost interest in the LT, it's just too confining. And may be selling my Roadster as well. I have gone to a cruiser [Victory CrossRoad] ...it's just more comfortable .

I did list it once there, I just thought I'd mention it......& yeah! I'd appreciate any leads .

Re: Colorado

Planning Next year when I visit Phoenix in making a loop up to Durango and around back through New Mexico... or maybe we should go further in CO who knows what the final plans are but it sounds we should need to be closer to summer time table instead of the spring due too the high elevations and temperatures at that time of the year!

You should definitely go further. We were in Durango waaayyy back in 2003, I think it was. It's a bit flat down there compared to the rest of the state. Getting into the middle of the state is really worth it.

Durango is a place you should stop to grab a bite to eat and a drink, on your way to the Gunnison area for optimal riding. Spend the night in Florence. :P
