Arrow Should we continue TWT at Barleycorn's?

Just to make it clear, I prefer Barleycorn's as a TWT location. It's only 15~20 minutes from my house, while Red Robin is almost twice as far. Combine this with the planed construction on I-275 on the east side and Red Robin gets even farther away for me.

This said, I must raise this question: should we continue to have TWT at Barleycorn's in Northern Kentucky? There are several reasons that I ask this:
  • Attendance has been spotty and light at this location
  • The wait for tables can vary greatly
  • People have made statements regarding the menu
  • TV can't be dedicated to our group (and apparently no SpeedTV)

Re: Should we continue TWT at Barleycorn's?

What about something in the Tri-County area? N.Ky is almost 1 1/2 hours away from me. Tons of restaurants in that area. The one time I showed up at Barleycorn's, I was unable to locate any memebers. Tri-County would halve that distance. Maybe you could start getting more Dayton-area people to show up if it was a bit further north, if I'm not the only one from the area...

Re: Should we continue TWT at Barleycorn's?

I probably donít get a vote since I have never been to one of these events. I have only been a member of this group since October. I really want to come to a few of these events but with working at Mason-Montgomery Road, living near I-74 at Rybolt I spend a lot of time crossing this city. Factor in a wife that works late, and a teen age son that needs help with Freshman homework and a never ending scout and track schedule I just have not been able to make one of these events.
When I worked in Highland Heights I use to eat lunch there a lot and it was good but maybe itís different at night and over the last couple of years. If itís moved to Milford I can tell you I will probably never make one as there is no easy quick way to get there from home. Iíd rather go to Middletown than Milford. Northern Ky. Works good for me. What about Mansion Hill Tavern in Newport, or BW3 in Cold Springs?
Tri-county could be good also, maybe the back-porch saloon in 747?

I will really try to make a couple of these this spring and summerÖreally.

Re: Should we continue TWT at Barleycorn's?

Let's be honest. The attendance is poor at Barleycorns. If it were not, it wouldn't be the subject of a poll. I say kill it. Move it elswhere? Why not give it a try. I live near Red Robin so of course I love the location. I also understand that having it in a location where attendance is increased is good for all. Let's not have it in Pisgah just because one person wants it. This is a democracy.

Re: Should we continue TWT at Barleycorn's?

Distance/location is not as important to me as atmosphere and willingness of the staff to bend over backwards to make things work for us. Heck, I'd be willing to vote for something along the BRP. I don't go to these TWT places for casual dining. I go because I want to hang out with other motorcyclists, kick tires, mingle in the parking lot or patio, etc etc. I also want good food at a good price and I want it quick and easy to pay for. I'll be honest, I'm not a big fan of either location right now. I also have no interest in showing up to these places if I'm the only one there (or there are only a couple others). Why should I spend an hour riding on the highway to go eat by myself, when I can go ride some nice rural twisty routes and eat wherever I end up. So, I guess another really important thing for me is that it is a location that will attract the interest of many.

Hmm... familiar with the area, but don't think I've ever been there (didn't even know it existed).

Impulse modulator engaged to not just say ďOn 128Ē

You can get there many ways but for the sake of everyone else lets say you are I-74 east bound coming from Harrison. Get off at the 128 exit, turn right at the light at the bottom of the ramp. Go about 50 yards and turn left into their parking lot. Much of their lot os gravel but they have a section that is concert or blacktop that they leave open for bikes (in season) This place is right across the street from Miamitown Cycles

Re: Should we continue TWT at Barleycorn's?

Let's take a look at Greenies on 28. Some of us are going there to watch the Daytona 200 and they have many TV's with Speed. After the race we can decide if it would be a good place or not. I also agree that we should have a TWT somewhere north around Tri-County, maybe at that game place and we could race each other on the video bikes. I don't think that they are that crowded at night. Milford is close enough for us that live in the south so we should alternate north or west. Just my .02.

If I went to dave and Buster's twice a month I could never afford to own a real bike

A Tri-County location would make attendance easier for me.

Re: Should we continue TWT at Barleycorn's?

We've seen these posts and polls before. It is always difficult to find something that everybody agrees on. I think the alternating location wasn't too good of an idea, the restaurants can't really prepare for us, or get confused about the dates. The location isn't that much of a problem once the weather breaks and more people ride.

BTW, we opted for a location on the East and South, because half a year ago (when we changed locations) there was a Two-Wheel-Thursday, but I am not sure, if this is still on. Doesn't look like it. Lets take a look at Greenies on Sunday, and then go from there.
