I'm pulling for #9286 Jax Cycles, Randy Gensamer, 1350-A-AG, Suzuki, 1985

That's my old GS1150 dragbike that they totally rebuilt!

I think their class record is 192 mph.

Re: Bonneville Salt Flats AMA Speed Trials 8/30-9/3

Hey, thanks all for the info. Best of Luck to Len and his BMW, airheads forever, forever airheads.

And as a GS Zooki owner I'd like to see pguest's dragster GS snag a record.

See Marty Smith is still at it, plus there are a trio of Vincents that will make a go, lots of old Trumpets and darned if there aren't a few BSA scoots in the mix, too.

Wish I was there.

Looks like the Brit steam car did it.

My dad was hoping to have is turbo-intercooled GS450 ready for it, but he's still working the bugs out. Hopefully it'll be ready for October's run.

This weekend's event is for bikes only. I think there is an event in a couple weeks for cars & bikes. Todd Hennessy is planning on running a bike & a car at that event.

That's funny, a guy from Sacramento that Greg and I knew from a GS forum started building a GS450 over 10 years ago (maybe 15 years now) for speed trials and not sure if he ever ran it. By the time it was almost complete the record for his class was probably out of reach for his machine.

My old bike blew its head gasket & oiled down Randy's pant legs. He only made 1 run all weekend.

Re: Bonneville Salt Flats AMA Speed Trials 8/30-9/3

I think Chris Carr is a bit more than a dirt tracker for sure, actually it's flat track but I get what you mean. I think those guys have some big kahunas for real. Have you seen the guy ride AMA FT with one arm? Amazing. http://www.jasongriffinracing.com/ IMHO flat track is the most challenging of bike racing, heck any kind of racing, one of the oldest for sure.

I'd love to try FT and the land speed thing too. They have speed runs kinda close, compared to Utah anyway, at Maxton South or North Carolina (I always forget)

"367 MPH Avg, BUB team 500hp V4, Interestingly, set by a Dirt tracker! ( I didnt know they could ride straight"

Getting them to ride straight is no problem.
Getting them to not turn left after the traps at 367MPH +-- that's the problem!

Dave-- I've only flat tracked 250's. Saw one guy get killed-- mainly because back then-- and even now-- they don't seem to take safety seriously. Hay bales set in front of a concrete wall aren't much good for anything except soaking up the blood and gook.
I have to disagree-- road racing, to me still requires a larger portion of my giblets than flat tracking did. I've gone down more than once doing both. Flat tracking, I was cussing the whole time. Road racing, I was wondering -- is this how I die?
