Wtf!

Thanks, you guys! I am still freakin' out!

This is unreal they would give me a scooter. I didn't even have to pay for the title or anything; Genuine is picking up the entire tab; they are calling it a "trade" because they want my old one to keep in their showroom in Chicago on display. Apparently I have more miles than anyone ever had on this particular brand so they wanted to recognize all the scootering I do. Amazing! The President of the company had emailed me several months ago wanting to know about the kind of maintenance we do on it. Also asked if I would write a little story about "Why I Love My Buddy 125".
He was touched by my story and must have made the decision to do something extra for me (BTW: I always mention this Forum when I write my stories). He sent me some performance tires, a Prima Performance exhaust pipe, some t-shirts, stickers, etc. Sweet! I was very appreciative and figured that was it.

So Metro Scooter was having a cookout and sale today and mentioned a surprise for Buddy of the Month at 1pm. I thought it might be me and I would get a cool plaque. Needless to say, I got more than a plaque! I walked in the door at 11:50am, still in helmet and people were standing all around the front door. The shop owner came over and put his arm around me and started making some speech and before I knew it those people parted like the Red Sea and there was my bike with the plaque attached. I about died! And it sure as hell wasn't 1pm yet! So it was a long, fuzzy day!

So I cried a bunch at the thought of losing my old bike; you get attached, especially considering this was my first bike and it had a lot of stories behind the miles in a short amount of time. But now I will gather more miles and more smiles and keep on moving. I rode it home and it's a little screamer! I was told to keep the speed down for the first 150 miles and ease into a little speed after that until 500 miles in order to break in the new engine. Well easier said than done, my friends! It's so much quicker off the line I just wanted to haul ass coming home! But I'll be good because I plan on another 40,000 on this one. I figure by the time I get back down to The Dragon in May it'll be ready to rock and roll!

Thanks to all of you for being so complimentary and supportive!

Angie

Witttom knows I'm gonna' be out tomorrow getting those 150 miles in ASAP!

You guys won't recognize me if you see me on a black scooter...oh, wait...the pink coat, helmet, seat cover, scarf, etc, etc, etc may just give it away!

The President of the company is Philip McCaleb. His email is: philip@genuinescooters.com

I think he will really, really appreciate it. He seems like a good guy from talking to him and emailing him.

I still think you aughta leave it Matte Black. Paint the wheels pink. Heck, paint pink flames on it or something, but the Matte Black says "I'm a Bad Ass". ...and we all know you're a bad ass.

What a cool turn of events. If I need a scooter I know where to go. Well deserved for a true motorcyclist.

Re: Whne bone girl wears out the buddy??

It does kinda suck having to give up your old ride that took you so far, but getting a new ride it return is a pretty sweet deal. Especially "stepping up" to a snappy scoot like the 'Black Jack'. The only downside I see from this, other than the emotional attachment, is that we'll never know just how far that Pink Buddy was willing to go. BTW... is a 'Black Jack' still a 'Black Jack' is you paint it pink?

Re: Whne bone girl wears out the buddy??

I got a reply to my email..

I sent this...

Hello Sir,

In response to the thread below from localriders.com, Id like to say that this was an AWESOME gesture by you and your company. Its great to see a company producing a quality product and doing what it takes to promote the sport, their name and good will toward their followers. Keep up the good work and be ready for this scooter to have more miles than the original Pink Buddy 125.

and received this in return.

I sent an e-mail also. Someone should call Monday and wake the President (and anyone else in the company that reads my e-mail) from the coma.
