Cool Motorcycle Movies

Recently discovered this on Netflix.... I think it may be a recent addition.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1855152/

Narrated by Ewan McGregor.

Quote:
CHARGE captures a pivotal moment in motor sport history: the advent of high-speed, zero-emissions racing. It came on June 12th 2009, the day of the world's first zero-emissions motorcycle grand prix. The race took place on the Isle of Man TT course, the most demanding and deadly circuit on the planet. The movie follows the fortunes of several teams, from swaggering US hotshots MotoCzysz to shoestring Anglo-Indian contenders Team Agni and local heroes ManTTx Racing. The story begins in early 2009 amid the hectic preparations for the first zero emissions grand prix and concludes three years later at the 2012 event. Each year sees a huge leap in performance - proof that racing really does improve the breed and that maniacs on motorcycles can be a force for global good. CHARGE is the dramatic and highly entertaining inside story of an unlikely group of pioneers - obsessed visionaries, ambitious businessmen, new-tech eccentrics, government ministers and hardcore racers - from as far afield as India, the USA, Germany and Britain. It's a human story as well as a technological one: the teams' hopes for personal glory and commercial success ride on their green machines. It's also a controversial story: for the visionaries, it's history. For the petrol-heads, it's blasphemy. What's racing without the sound and fury of internal combustion engines? CHARGE is about the future. It's about change. It's about the dream of a clean, green world. It's about the dream of winning.

Re: Motorcycle Movies

I saw Quadrodphenia for the first time a couple months ago, on TWC.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quadrophenia_(film)

I had never heard of it, but Casanewt made mention of it on FB (I think it was) a while back, and then I saw a reference to it in an old Top Gear UK episode with Pete Townsend. So I looked it up. Holy shit, I can't believe I hadn't seen it before then. It's gotta be the most awesome Mods vs Rockers movie of all time. It too is available on Netflix, and on FLX this evening. If you've been living under a rock like me, make a point to see it.

Re: Motorcycle Movies

Electric motorcycles….yawn….

I'll take mine petroleum-fueled, fast, and loud.

If I decide I need an E-bike, I'll put the Prius up for sale!

And I liked Ewan McGregor better in Trainspotting and Big Fish….

Kinda funny that you say that, because that's partly what this movie is about... the initial attitude toward eBikes and how that is changing, and... oh wait, I bet that's why you're saying it, right? Hehe....

Re: Motorcycle Movies

I am not sure if a series would be good to put in here as it is a movies thread.

I have just watched "Long Way Down" and "Long Way Round" on Netflix. Both are very good series with 10, 1 hr episodes each.

Charlie Boorman, who was in "Long Way Down" and "Long Way Round" also did a show called "Race To Dakar" that looks promising as well.

Perfectly suitable. All of those documentaries, are essentially long movies, that were broken down into small segments to be seen on TV. In fact, many of us here on LR saw LWD in a movie theater a few years ago.

I forgot these were on Netflix because I have all of them on DVD, but this is a good reminder to those who have never seen it, that you can see them on Netflix.

Thumbs up Dust to Glory

Dust to Glory, on Netflix (Nothing new, it's been on Netflix for a while now).

People have been telling me for years, that I need to see this movie. Finally got around to it this evening. Kicking myself in the ass for not watching it sooner. Absolutely amazing. If you liked 'On Any Sunday', then this is a movie for you. Dust to Glory. I know many of you have already seen. If you haven't, you must. Trust me.

Re: Motorcycle Movies

ROAD

It's now on NetFlix. Watch it. Trust me.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3546370/

"Brothers addicted to speed. At any price. Motorcycle road racing is the most dangerous of all motor sports. One in which men compete at speeds of up to 200 miles per hour on closed country roads. Roads that are lined with trees, telegraph posts, stone walls. Ireland and the Isle of Man are two of the few places in the world where the sport still survives. Narrated by Liam Neeson, this is the dramatic and poignant story of two sets of brothers from Northern Ireland who have dominated road racing for over thirty years. Two generations of one family that have been united by success. And united by tragedy."
